Siraha, March 1: The CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman and former Prime Minister, Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', has claimed that efforts are being made to subvert the constitution achieved through the sacrifices of the people in the name of amendment.
Addressing a mass assembly in Siraha district headquarters as part of the party's Tarai-Madesh Public Awakening Campaign on Saturday, the Maoist Centre Chairman said that the any attempts aimed at dismantling the constitution, which was achieved on the foundation of a decade-long people's war and people's movement would be thwarted.
Those in the government are trying to limit people's rights by raising the issues of constitution amendment and are effortful in maintaining a two-party system, Prachanda added.
He added that his party's current campaign in the Tara-Madhes along the postal highway is aimed at reestablishing the party's deep ties with the local people.
On the occasion, the Maoist Centre Chairman reiterated his party's commitment to the cause of the Madhesi people and their self-esteem.
He recalled the formation of Madhes people's government and Madhesi National Liberation Front by the Maoist party during the time of people's war to establish the rights of Madhesi people.
Likewise, the former PM said that the construction of the postal highway was advanced during his premiership in the past by holding serious talks with the Indian side.
Dahal also promised to work for different road networks in Siraha district including Choharba-Siraha, Siraha-Kalyanpur-Mirchaya and upgrading the Madar customs office.
CPN (Maoist Centre) leaders Matrika Prasad Yadav, Bishwanath Sah, Ajay Shankar Nayak and Jagat Prasad Yadav, and Nepal Samajwadi Party Chairman Mahendra Raya Yadav and others shared their views at the mass assembly.(RSS)
