By Avinash Chaudhary, Dhangadhi, Mar.1: Hailstorm that occurred in Kailali on Saturday morning has caused damage to crops.

Thunderstorm accompanied by rain has caused damage to crops such as lentils and wheat.

Farmers have said that there was a hailstorm accompanied by rain in the central and eastern areas of the district.

Local farmer Phool Raj Chaudhary of Kailari Rural Municipality -7 said that wheat and lentils have been damaged by the thunderstorm.

According to him, lentils have started harvesting in the fields while wheat is in the process of harvesting.

It has been reported that a hailstorm occurred in Kailari Rural Municipality, Bhajani Municipality, Tikapur Municipality, Bardagoriya Rural Municipality and other areas of the district.

Bhojraj Dhungana of Tikapur Municipality-7 said that there was a hailstorm for about five minutes in the Tikapur area.

He said that the yield may decrease because this is a time of wheat flowering and a rainstorm has destroyed it.

He said, "Even though not much crop destruction has been witnessed, but the crop yield might be decreased because the white flowering was ripped apart by hailstorm."
