Preparations for Tharu Literature Conference over

By Siraj Khan,Nepalgunj, Feb. 28: Preparations have been completed for the 9th Tharu Literature National Conference, which will be held at Rajapur-2, in Bardiya district.

There will be eight discussion sessions at the conference, according to Som Damandaura, President of Janjar Literary Bakheri Bardiya.

He said that the Mayor of Rajapur Municipality, Dipesh Tharu Rajesh, former District Education Officer, Jit Bahadur Shah, former Principal Kiran Acharya and Principal Naresh Kumar Tharu will conduct a discussion on the 'Education Journey of Rajapur Municipality'.

Similarly, former minister Dr. Gopal Dahit, Lumbini Province Lawmaker Dharma Bahadur Tharu, former mayor Durga Bahadur Tharu Kabir and advocate Santaram Dharkatuwa Tharu are scheduled to moderate discussions on development and obstacles.

Likewise, Radio Gurwa's station manager Pushpa Chaudhary along with cultural activists Ekraj Chaudhary, Minraj Chaudhary and Bhagwati Prasad Chaudhary will conduct a session on the characters of Barkimar (Tharu Mahabharata).

The Tharu community of Bardiya is one of the most affected groups by the Maoist armed conflict.  

In the same context, Tharu Commission Chairman Bishnu Prasad Chaudhary, Mayor Dipesh Tharu Rajesh and Conflict Victims Society Chair Bhagiram Tharu along with scholar Shekhar Dahit will discuss transitional justice and respond to the questions of conflict victims. 

Similarly, Dr. Gopal Dahit, Prim Bahadur Tharu and Dr. Krishnaraj Sarvahari will discuss the role of Unique Nepal in preserving Tharu folk literature.  

Meanwhile, Sanu Chaudhary will engage in a discussion with Som Damandaura, Mohan Chaudhary and Shekhar Dahit about the one cup tea campaign for literature. 

Dr. Krishna Raj Sarvahari, President of Tharu Writers Association Nepal, said that Balika Chaudhary would lead a discussion with Buddhasen Chaudhary, Unnati Chaudhary and Shatrughan Chaudhary on the topic 'Thumr Basghara Batchit'.

Director Pradeep Bhattarai and artist-cum-producer Rabindra Singh Baniya will be the main attraction of the three-day conference. Director Surajdev will debate with them various aspects of cinema. 

A ghazal evening will also be organised at Balabazaar.
