By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Feb. 26: On the occasion of the 25th International Mother Tongue Day, the Nepalbhasha Parisad recently organised a mother tongue poetry recitation programme at the residence of Nepalbhasha poet Shiromani Chittadhar Hridaya.
Hridaya dedicated his life to the upliftment of the mother language, and his efforts led to the establishment of what is now known as the Nepalbhasha Parisad.
A total of 23 poets from the Tamang, Maithili, Bhojpuri and Nepalbhasha languages, including Kabindra Lal Pradhan, Amir Maiya Ranjit, and Dibya Tamrakar recited poems in their respective mother tongues.
Vice Chancellor of the Department of Mother Language at Nepal Academy, Bimal Nibha, said that the academy would collaborate with all local language communities to promote mother languages.
Emphasising the need to respect all languages spoken in the country, academician of Nepal Academy Trailokyaman Banepali stressed the importance of promoting local languages to uphold linguistic rights.
Similarly, senior writer Pushpa Chitrakar discussed the essential elements of poetry and provided commentary on the poems recited during the event.
He also shared insights on the works of senior poets, including Pratisara Sayami and Shakya Suren.
