An art work of Diyal

By Our Correspondent,Baitadi, Feb. 25: The talent of 12-year-old Diyal Lohani is remarkable.

He is an artist, who has been creating artworks since childhood.

Originally from Dadakot, Malikarjun Rural Municipality-5 in Darchula, Diyal is currently studying in Grade 7 in Attariya, Kailali.

He has now come to visit his maternal home in Babet village, Dashrathchand Municipality Municipality-4, Baitadi.

When Diyal arrived at his maternal home in Baitadi, a crowd of people gathered, asking him to draw their portraits, said his mother, Lalita Wad Lohani.

Lohani has drawn portraits of historical figures such as Prithvi Narayan Shah, Gautam Buddha, Lord Shiva and analyst Aahuti, along with various writers and artists.

At the age of eight, when he first drew a portrait of his mother, his family members were astonished.

Lohani uses pencils, erasers, rulers, dark pencils, stump paper, and charcoal pencils for his drawings.

Since childhood, he has had a passion for drawing, and his family members have been supportive by providing him with the necessary materials.

Initially, Diyal was unaware of any formal rules for drawing, but he now follows proper techniques and methods.

He said that encouragement from his schoolteachers and guardians has further motivated him.

His father, Khemraj Lohani, said that they provide him with the required drawing materials based on his interests.

He added that they sometimes order the necessary supplies from Kathmandu for his drawing.
