By Our Correspondent,Butwal, Feb. 22: The Nepal Academy of Fine Arts is set to organise the Lumbini Province Fine Art Exhibition-2081 in Butwal to preserve indigenous art and highlight its cultural significance.
The exhibition will be held from February 26 to 30.
Organised in collaboration with the Nepal Professional Artists Association, Butwal, the exhibition will feature 180 artworks, including paintings, sculptures, handicrafts, folk art, architecture, cartoons, and photography, created by 123 artists.
According to Dineshwor Mahato, Head of the Sculpture Department at the Academy and Coordinator of the Lumbini Province Coordination Committee, the exhibition will include 74 paintings by 63 artists and 14 sculptures by 13 artists.
Likewise, 21 folk artworks by 20 artists, 52 handicrafts by 14 artists, 15 photographs by 10 artists, and one creation each in videography and cartoons will be displayed.
Only the selected competitive artworks from the provincial exhibition will qualify for the National Fine Art Exhibition, he added.
Among the artworks featured in the National Fine Art Exhibition, the most outstanding piece will be awarded the National Fine Art Excellence Award, while the best works in different categories will receive the Outstanding National Fine Art Award.
The National Fine Art Excellence Award, worth Rs. 100,000, will be given to a single outstanding artist across all categories.
Additionally, the best provincial artwork from each province will receive a Provincial Excellence Award worth Rs. 50,000, while the best artwork in each category will be awarded Rs. 30,000.
