Kathmandu, Feb 21: Chairman of CPN (Maoist Centre) and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has said the party has never ignored the issues of identity and rights.
Inaugurating the national meeting of the Tamu National Liberation Front Nepal in Pokhara on Friday, Chairman Prachanda reminded there were varying perspectives toward identity while writing and promulgating constitution.
The former Prime Minister said his party would strongly advocate for the issues of identity and rights of the marginalized caste and communities.
He further informed that his party would contest the upcoming general election without forging electoral alliance.
On a different note, Chairman Prachanda said only the executive chief elected directly by the people could maintain political stability and good governance. He viewed if the constitution is to be amended, electoral system for this provision could be mulled.
Addressing the same event, party standing committee member and former Speaker Onsari Gharti Magar said that the oppressed castes and communities in the country got their rights only because of the Maoist's movement.(RSS)
