Laws need amendment to manage Inclusive Commission: Minister Gurung

Patan (Lalitpur): Feb 20: Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, has said it is necessary to amend laws to manage jurisdiction of the Inclusive Commission.     

Minister Gurung said it during a programme the National Inclusive Commission organized in Lalitpur on Thursday. He argued that although the Commission was set up as per constitutional provision, its jurisdiction was not clear, thereby warranting clarity in law.     

"Some communities are double benefited with State entitlements, while some have little access. The Tharu Commission and the Madhesi Commission are in a condition to be benefited showing caste and community provisions. As we celebrate the commission establishment day, such points need mulling," he underlined.     

He, however, said the National Inclusive Commission has a prominent role in elevating the socioeconomic status of the marginalized communities.     

Gurung further said, "The State takes the commissions as a burden, which, however, requires effective management. The backward and marginalized communities must be ensured rights, fostering unity in diversity."     

According to him, once socioeconomic inequalities are wiped out, it creates bases for socialism and development.     

Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission, Tap Bahadur Magar, suggested the Inclusive Commission that it worked on mainstreaming the marginalized community.     

Acting Chairperson of the National Inclusive Commission, Bishnu Maya Ojha, shared the Commission's current activities and future plans. She complained that they were bound to work despite limited resources.(RSS)
