Swayambhu Festival to be held to promote local identity

Kathmandu, Feb 20: The first Swayambhu Festival is being held by Kathmandu Municipal Corporation, Ward No. 15 from February 22 to March 1 to promote local identity and potential.     

The festival is being organized with the objective of promoting the ward's natural beauty, religious, cultural and social structures, customs and traditions, ancient monuments including monasteries, temples, chaityas, monasteries, sattal and vihar, said Ward Chair Ishwarman Dangol.     

Goods produced by individuals and organizations trained for entrepreneurship and livelihood from the ward, local produce, vegetables and fruits, and local handicraft and garment will be exhibited at the festival.     

The festival will be held at Bhuinkhel Chaur in Swayambhu.     

Traditional musical instruments, pictures related to the rituals of the ward residents from birth to death, pictures related to culture and tradition, pictures related to the life of Buddha, postage stamps and currencies will be on display,     

Food stalls, health check-ups, blood donation, Ranjana script writing, face painting, cultural and entertainment programs and sports will be additional attractions of the festival.(RSS)
