By Tilachan Pandey,Tamghas, Feb. 13: A 15-bed hospital has come into operation for the first time in Gulmi Durbar Rural Municipality of the district.
A few months ago, the rural municipality appointed an MBBS doctor and requested medical equipment from the Lumbini Provincial Government.
Now, the hospital has received beds, an ECG machine, an ultrasound machine, oxygen cylinders, concentrators, and other equipment, according to Narayan Aryal, chief of the Health Division.
From February 13, the hospital will provide daily check-ups, treatment by an MBBS doctor, laboratory services at low costs, and free 24-hour maternity services.
This hospital is part of a nationwide initiative launched during Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s earlier stint with the aim of establishing hospitals at 396 local levels.
Built by Arjun Builders, Tamghas, Gulmi, the hospital was built for Rs. 129.45 million.
Similarly, Chandrakot Rural Municipality has completed its hospital and is preparing to start services, according to information officer Shiva Gyawali.
Meanwhile, the 15-bed hospital in Chhatrakot Rural Municipality was inaugurated by former Lumbini Provincial Assembly member Kamal Raj Shrestha. However, four years after its foundation stone was laid in Shringha, War No. 4, its construction remains uncertain due to land issues.
In Malika Rural Municipality-4, former minister and parliamentarian Gokarna Raj Bista inaugurated a hospital, but it has not been built yet. Chief Administrative Officer Bikas Khanal stated that a new site has been arranged, and the project is now in the tender process.
In Dhurkot Rural Municipality, landslides delayed the construction of a hospital in Dhurkot Rajasthal.
Rural Municipality Chairman Bhupal Pokharel said the Ministry had approved the revised design, and construction has started. The project, awarded to Ravina-Arjun-New Liza JV, has a budget of over Rs. 130 million.
