Kathmandu, Feb 12: Restoration work
has begun on various sections of the BP Highway that were damaged due to
landslides and flooding caused by heavy rains in September 2024. Under the
initiative of the Department of Roads, repairs have started on the roadway from
Bhakundebeshi to Nepalthok.
According to the Department, the
reconstruction is targeted at the significantly affected 13-kilometre stretch,
with 8.5 kilometres of it scheduled for complete reconstruction.
Suman Yogesh, Chief of the
Bhaktapur-based Road Division Office, said the reconstruction of the BP Highway
is a top priority for the Division, and plans are in place to continue
maintenance work, including during night hours.
On Saturday, Minister for
Infrastructure and Transport, Debendra Dahal, conducted a field inspection of
the highway. During the visit, he promised the management of adequate resources
for the smooth implementation of the reconstruction efforts. (RSS)
