Kathmandu, Feb 9: Three bills were registered in the House of Representatives (HoR) meeting on Sunday.
Minister for Home Affairs, Ramesh Lekhak, presented the Nepal Citizenship (Second Amendment) Bill-2081, Nepal Police Bill-2081, and Armed Police Force Nepal Bill-2081.
During the bill registration, Minister Lekhak explained the motive behind presenting the bill related to the citizenship. He argued the bill was aimed at further systematizing the citizenship certificate distribution process.
The bills were brought following a series of serious discussions to amend the legislation in a timely manner, he added.
About the bills related to Nepal Police and Armed Police Force, the Minister assured that there would not be duplication in the role and responsibilities of two security agencies. He also mentioned that the concerns over service entry to retirement of security persons would be further addressed through the bills.
Earlier, the meeting had unanimously disapproved the note of dissent presented by parliamentarians Prem Suwal, Sumana Shrestha and Binita Kathayat on the proposal seeking consideration to table the bills.(RSS)
