By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Feb. 7: Actress Manisha Koirala said that she wanted to watch much-talked-about Purna Bahadur Ko Sarangi, a film by Saroj Paudel twice but in vain. She was unable to get a ticket on both occasions.

Speaking at the White House Literature Festival’s panel on ‘Art Beyond Borders’ here on Thursday, Koirala said, “I tried twice to watch Purna Bahadur Ko Sarangi, but I couldn’t get a ticket because they were sold out.”

Expressing surprise at the success of Nepali films, she said that Nepali films have already reached the international market, and the growing market in Nepal is evident from the success of Purna Bahadur Ko Sarangi.

She further added that Bollywood actors have gained recognition through hard work. “Just like in Bollywood, there is immense dedication here as well. If this effort continues, the Nepali film industry will expand further,” she added.

She emphasised that success requires consistency and hard work. “What I have learned is that it’s a do-or-die situation.”

She further added that her acting journey was influenced not just by her family’s political background but also by their inclination toward art.

Despite growing up in a political family, she had a normal upbringing. Explaining why she enjoys speaking at literary events, she said, “When I engage with young students, I feel even more energised to do meaningful work. I attend such events because they provide a platform to share and listen to stories.”

During the conversation, she also highlighted the importance of mental strength in overcoming cancer.

“To defeat cancer, one must have a strong willpower,” she said. “You have to make an effort to survive from within.”

The successful Bollywood actress has defeated cancer.
