Bajura, Feb. 5: Locals of Himali Rural Municipality-5, Kudi, Bajura, were overjoyed when a vehicle reached their village for the first time.
This marks a significant milestone for the village, as the road network now provides locals with much easier transportation options.
Due to the tireless effort of the rural municipality, Kudi village is connected to a road network, which is expected to ease the daily life of the locals.
Earlier, the villagers had to walk an entire day to reach the municipal office. Now, the journey takes just an hour, bringing great joy to the locals.
Although vehicles had been operating in other parts of the municipality, locals of Kudi had long-awaited vehicles to reach their village.
The arrival of a vehicle has fulfilled the dream of 75-year-old Lalmani Rokaya. “Without access to the road network, it was very difficult to transport the local produce to the market. With vehicles now accessible, transporting locally produced vegetables to the market has become easier," said Rokaya.
Due to geographical challenges, a few wards still lacked road access. Funds were allocated annually to construct roads, and after continuous efforts, vehicles have started reaching Kudi village for the first time, said the rural municipality chair Gobinda Bahadur Malla.
Malla also added, “Although Ward Nos. 4, 5 and 7 were connected to the road network since last year, Kudi still was devoid of the road network”
Jeeps and tractors have started operating in the area lately. Likewise, efforts are underway to extend road access to other wards in the municipality.
