Curbing corruption is political agenda, Prachanda says

Myagdi, Feb 4: CPN (Maoist Centre) Chair and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has stated that corruption is a key factor behind the nation's economic crisis.     

Addressing a political assembly organized by his party in Beni, Myagdi on Monday, former PM Prachanda stated that corruption has hindered Nepal's economic, social, and physical development. He emphasized that combating corruption will now be the central political agenda of his party.     

He viewed that people's support was needed in the fight against corruption, which he argued, was aimed at ending economic crisis.     

"We led the transformation for people's rights and regime change in the past. Now, we will advance ahead for corruption control, a hindrance to the nation's development. We have received support from all in this campaign," Prachanda added.     

The former PM reiterated that his government made efforts to raise hope and confidence among the people by working for the cause of good governance, social justice and prosperity.     

Prachanda described reduction of electricity leakage from the system, end of load shedding, implementation of constitution, advancement of inclusion, proportional system and other acts as his major achievements during his premiership.     

Likewise, Prachanda said that power trade agreement for power export to the international market, construction of national and international power transmission line, opening of traditional border points along the Nepal-China borders including Korola checkpoint were also advanced during his leadership.     

On the occasion, the Maoist Centre Chairman expressed his determination to stand for people by correcting his past mistakes and stated that all Maoist splinters will be united soon.(RSS)
