Cooperative fraud: Case registered against 15 individuals including former DPM Lamichhane

Chitwan, Feb 4: A case has been registered at the Chitwan District Court today against 15 people including former Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister and Rastriya Swatantra Party Rabi Lamichhane on charges of embezzling funds from Sahara Chitwan Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited.     

The defendants include Lamichhane, Chhabilal Joshi, Ram Bahadur Khanal, Rabina Rimal, Bishal Gurung, among others, shared the court's information officer Amrit Bishwakarma.     

Earlier, in the first case registered three months ago, there were 17 defendants. Lamichhane's name was not specified at that time. The case registered today includes 15 defendants including Lamichhane and six organizations including Gorkha Media Pvt. Ltd. and Sahara Savings.     

The five companies that received money from Sahara Cooperative are Gorkha Media Network Pvt. Ltd., Nature Hub International Pvt. Ltd., JB Group of Companies, Spring Wood Estate Housing Pvt. Ltd. and Nature Nest Pvt. Ltd., said Bishwakarma.     

Earlier, a case was filed against 17 people in the Chitwan District Court including JB Rai, Kumar Ramtel, Sagar KC, Bir Bahadur Ranabhat and others.     

The supplementary charge filed by the District Government Attorney's Office, Chitwan, was registered today. The total amount allegedly defrauded from Sahara Chitwan Multipurpose Cooperative Society is Rs 523.285 million.     

Out of 32 defendants, five including Lamichhane, Ram Bahadur Khanal, Chhabilal Joshi, Kumar Ramtel and Mahendra Bhote alias Shiva Bahadur Gurung have appeared before the court.(RSS)
