Govt. to organize Sagarmatha Sambaad on 16-18 May

Kathmandu, Feb 4: The government has decided to organize Sagarmatha Sambaad in Kathmandu on May 16-18 on the theme 'Climate Change, Mountains, and the Future of Humanity'.     

At a press meet on Tuesday, Minister for Communications and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung shared the decisions of the cabinet meeting held on Monday.     

Minister Gurung said that the government has allowed the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) to purchase the share of IL and FS Energy Development Company Limited of India, a cross border power transmission company, established for the development of transmission line from Nepal-India border line to Muzaffarpur, India. The cabinet meeting decided to allow the NEA to buy 2,973,163 units of promoter shares of IL and FS Energy Development Company Limited, he said.     

The cabinet meeting also decided to establish the Consumer Court with its office in the Kathmandu Valley, according to the government spokesperson.     

Likewise, the cabinet meeting has provided 3.5 hectares of land of national forest in Sainamaina Municipality-10 in Rupandehi district for the construction of Sainamaina Waste Management Centre.     

Similarly, the cabinet meeting has approved the use of 3.2 hectares of land of national forest in ward no. 8, 11, and 12 in Birendranagar Municipality and ward no. 10 in Lekbensi Municipality in Surkhet district for the construction of Bheri Pumping Project.     

The cabinet also approved the visit of Minister for Labour, Employment and Social Security Sarat Singh Bhandari to United Arab Emirates from 11 to 13 February to attend the World Governments Summit, Minister Gurung shared.     

Likewise, the visit of Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Devendra Dahal was approved for the participation in the Fourth Global Ministerial Conference on Road Safety to take place in Morocco on February 18 to 20.(RSS)
