Lumbini, Feb 3: The politicians and stakeholders have argued that provincial structure was the strong pillar for federalism and suggested that the federal government should not delay in delegating rights to the provinces.
At a programme organized at the provincial capital city of Lumbini Province in Deukhuri on the 8th Foundation Day of Lumbini Province, the speakers viewed that province level structure was the strong foundation for federalism among the three layers of government.
On the occasion, Lumbini Province Chief Krishna Bahadur Gharti said federalism was the system that empowers people adding that there is no one above the citizens.
Likewise, Chief Minister of Lumbini Province Chet Narayan Acharya said the province has set best example to ensure the outstanding performance of the province.
Saying that several laws were on the stage of formulation, Chief Minister Acharya stressed the need for coordination with the federal government in the drafting of laws and their standards.
Speaker of Lumbini Province Tularaj Ghartimagar said stability of the province should be prioritized since it was a new structure of federalism.
Former Chief Minister Dilli Bahadur Chaudhary said the provinces should be empowered to make the provinces stronger and expressed his reservation to the practice of centralizing powers in the federal government.
Former Chief Minister and opposition leader Jokh Bahadur Mahara called for a collective commitment to meet the target of the prosperous province.
Also speaking at the event, former Chief Minister Kul Prasad KC said the province government should advance historical tasks to justify it outstanding.
