By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Jan. 29: Journalist-cum-writer Gandhiraj Kafle has brought out an anthology of essays titled Suswasthya (Good Health) in Nepali.
Sociologist Balkrishna Mabuhang, Dr. Govindaraj Bhattarai, Dr. Tulsi Bhattarai, Dr. Gyanu Pandey and essayist Kafle himself jointly launched the book amid an event organised by Oriental Publication in the capital on Monday.
The book has two parts including personality section and ideology section. The first consists of 15 essays while the second one has eight.
The essays of the personalities chapter are mainly focused on the philosophy, morale and health formula of some of the inspirational personalities of the world including Mahatma Gandhi, BP Koirala, Ganeshman Singh, Krishna Prasad Bhattarai, Girija Prasad Koirala, Manmohan Adhikari, Otto von Bismarck, Morarji Desai, Bir Narayan Chaudhari, Leo Tolstoy, Sigmund Freud, Hellen Keller and Jahangir Tata.
Likewise, the writer has discussed the importance of proper diet, Patanjali's Astanga Yoga, Maharshi Charak's health cure formula and others in the second part of the book. Naisargik Adhikar Anna, Pani Ra Hawa, Sakaratmak Chintanko Apekshya Ra Avyas are other interesting essays.
Published by Oriental Publication, the 216-page book is priced at Rs. 445.
Sociologist Mabuhang hailed the essayist's compelling theme in interesting style and simple language. "It is not easy to write on compelling theme in lucid language that the essayist has done," he commented.
Critics Dr. Pandey, Dr. Govindaraj Bhattarai, Dr. Tulsi Bhattarai traced that the essays are full of literary flavour whereas they are focused on complicated themes such as health, philosophy and morale.
At the programme, lyricist and former finance minister SP Koirala expressed the best wishes to the writer.
Essayist Kafle professed that he was inspired by the personalities mentioned in the book that made him write essays on them.
The former acting executive editor of The Rising Nepal daily, Kafle has five books to his credit, prior to this.
