By Dharbendra Jha, Janakpurdham, Jan 23: The girls of Dhanusha have submitted a memorandum to the Minister of Sports and Social Welfare of the Madhesh, Pramod Jaiswal, appealing that the marriage age limit be kept at 20 years.
The girls objected to the proposal made by the Law, Justice and Human Rights Committee of the House of Representatives to reduce the age of marriage from 20 years to 18 years on January 15.
The team led by the Secretary of Girls Champion Network, Bimala Rai, was attended by Life Nepal Chairperson Surait Thakur submitted the memorandum to the minister.
Girls Champion Network, Girls First Fund, Life Nepal and other organizations working in the field of child marriage prohibition submitted a memorandum to Minister Jaiswal.
Receiving the memorandum, Minister Jaiswal, said that this kind of proposal has come because of the big problems in the society and assured that the issues raised by the girls will be brought to a higher level for discussion.
