blog

Lamjung, Jan 19: Minister for Communications and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung has defended the government move to bring new ordinances saying that it is the 'need of the hour'.

Inaugurating the golden jubilee celebration of Buddhodaya Secondary School at Gilung in Lamjung on Sunday, Minister Gurung said that the government unveiled the ordinances to expedite the pace of development and good governance

The government brought the ordinances to deliver development and government's performance by making amendments to the Acts and laws, stating that the old-fashioned working style since the Panchayat regime could not bring about new changes.

Minister Gurung said that a prosperous republican system was an option for a republic and that a prosperous democracy was an alternative to democracy. He added that the new ordinances cold be instrumental in ensuring accessible service delivery to citizens.

He hoped that the ordinances could address pressing issues regarding accessible and prompt service delivery without favoritism.

Similarly, he said that the government has made the national identity card mandatory for collecting social security allowance, which would end complaints of embezzlement of the social security allowance by civil servants.

Also speaking at the event, Minister for Economic Affairs of Gandaki Province, Dr Takraj Gurung, said the province government was giving emphasis on health-care, education, infrastructure development, drinking water, tourism and energy sectors.(RSS)
