Defense argument on behalf of Rabi Lamichhane starts today

By Phadindra Adhikari, Lekhnath,Jan.6: The defense argument on behalf of the former Home Minister and Chairman of Rastriya Swatantra Party Rabi Lamichhane in the case of embezzling savings of the Pokhara-4 based Suryadarshan Cooperative has started today. 

The arguments of the defendants started from last Friday. Earlier, the lawyers have argued on behalf of the former DIG and the former vice president of Gorkha Media Network Private Limited Chhabilal Joshi, and Leela Pachain, an employee of GB & Company.

 According to Rajan Khanal, registrar of the Kaski District Court, legal practitioners' arguments will begin on behalf of Lamichhane in the custody debate in the courtroom of Judge Nitij Rai in a short while. 

He said, "The debate on behalf of Chabilal Joshi and Leela Pachai has ended in this case. From today, the debate will start on behalf of Ravi Lamichhane".

Senior advocates Raman Shrestha, Sushil Panta, Dr. Narayan Ghimire, Narayanadatta Kandel, Hari Subedi, Rohitraj Parajuli, and others are preparing to argue on behalf of Lamichhane. The arguments of the defendants will be completed on Tuesday or Wednesday and will decide whether the defendants should remain in custody for trial or be released pending further investigation.

The case revolves around allegations of 19 people embezzling savings from the Pokhara-based Suryadarshan Cooperative.
