By Shiva Raj Dhungana,Achham, Jan.1,: Kamal Bahadur Shah, Chief Minister of Sudurpashchim Province said that the Province government was actively working to develop all sectors within the province.
Inaugurating the district assembly of Achham on Monday, Chief Minister Shah said that the provincial government has been coordinating with the federal government for the policy level and physical developments.
Chief Minister Shah Said he has been talking with the Prime Minister and Federal ministers regarding the provincial pride projects such as the Karnali Corridor, Urai Bhanjyang and the Seti Highway.
However, the province government should focus on the Upper Karnali, Seti and Betan Karnali Hydropower projects, said Chief Minister Shah.
Chief Minister Shah also added that attempts were being made to shift the Betan Karnali Hydropower project elsewhere under different pretexts. “I have heard that such efforts are underway to create an illusion. The investment of the Employee Provident Fund is about to divert to other projects,” said Shah.
As per the previous agreement, a 439 MW Hydropower project is going to be constructed in the Karnali River between Achham and Surkhet districts with the investment of the Employee Provident Fund.
Former Minister and Member of Federal Parliament Sher Bahadur Kunwar, Member of Parliament Pushpa Bahadur Shah, Province Minister for Social Development Megh Raj Khadka and Member of Sudurpashchim Province Assembly Man Bahadur Rawal also expressed their views on the occasion.
Chairs and other representatives of the local levels attended the programme. Most of them raised their concerns about the unfair distribution of the budget and lack of coordination in the programmes run by the federal, provincial and local levels.
Responding to their concerns, Chief Minister Shah committed to correcting the gaps in the coming days.
