First Magar Literature Festival concludes

By A Staff Reporter,Rupandehi, Dec. 9: A two-day first Magar Literature Festival concluded in Rupandehi on Sunday. 

 Speaking at the closing ceremony, Nepal Magar Women's Association President Hiru Rana Magar stressed the need to inform the new generation about the proud history of the Magar community.

He urged all Magars to unite in the bond of unity stating that the identity and development of the entire caste was possible only through the protection of language, literature and traditions. 

Various programmes in various literary genres, including dialogues, poetry recitation competitions, book exhibitions, art exhibitions, and cultural performances were organised in the two-day festival held at Jit Gadhi Fort in Butwal. 

Man Bahadur Baga of Surkhet has succeeded in winning first place in the mother tongue poetry recitation competition organised by Nepal Magar Women’s Association Rupandehi as part of the festival that began on Friday. 

He was honoured with a certificate along with a cash prize of Rs. 10,000.

Similarly, Bhawani Ale of Sindhuli came second and received a cash prize of Rs. 7,000 while Gopal Pun of Rukum came third and received a cash prize of Rs. 3,000.

Similarly, consolation winners Abinash Ale and Rim Rana were also honoured with cash awards.

Likewise, senior journalist and former editor of the National News Agency Khildhwoj Thapa Magar was honoured with the Adikabi Jit Bahadur Sinjali and Rekh Bahadur Saru Magar Literary Awards. 

He was honoured with a cash prize of Rs. 20,000 in the programme.
