By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Dec. 3: In a joint initiative, all three academies including Nepal Academy of Fine Arts, Nepal Academy, and Nepal Academy of Music and Drama successfully concluded the ‘Academic Assembly 2081’ on Monday.
The event was inaugurated by Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation Badri Prasad Pandey.
Speaking at the programme, the Minister said that academicians should help guide the nation on the right path.
He said that academicians should act as ‘think tanks’ for the country, and there should be consistency among the academies established at the federal, provincial, and local levels, along with a clear delineation of their roles.
He also assured that the resolutions passed by the assembly would be implemented.
Minister Pandey expressed the view that the academic sector should guide society in generating awareness, developing moral values, and ensuring good governance for the benefit of the country and society.
The Chancellor of the Nepal Academy of Fine Arts, Naradmani Hartamchhali, said that the assembly focused on how art and culture could be integrated into societal transformation.
Chancellor of the Nepal Academy, Bhupal Rai, highlighted that academic discourse plays a vital role in building the nation’s soft power. He noted that discussions were held on topics based on the relationship between the academies and ideas, culture, and knowledge.
The Chancellor of the Nepal Academy of Music and Drama, Nisha Sharma, said that continuous coordination and collaboration among academies at the federal, provincial, and local levels would yield significant results.
The event saw the participation of representatives and officials from various academies and councils, including the Nepal Academy of Fine Arts, Nepal Academy, Nepal Academy of Music and Drama, Gandaki Academy, Sudurpaschim Academy, Aanbukhaireni Literature Council, Bharatpur Academy, Sunapati Academy, Ratnanagar Literature Council, Nilkantha Academy, Galyang Academy, Waling Academy, Gaindakot Municipal Academy, Bardaghat Academy, Khajura Academy, Bhirkot Academy, Mahankal Academy, Birtamod Language, Literature, and Arts Academy, and other academics.
Participants emphasised the need for consistency and collaboration among the academies.
The assembly concluded by issuing a seven-point declaration.
