Private houses, public property damaged due to storm

A house at Limbudin, Sidingwa Rurual Municipality-5, gets damaged as trees fell on it due to storm.

By Chandra Pandak, Taplejung, March 17: Storm has caused damage to nearly two dozen private houses and public infrastructure.

Bed Prasad Gautam, DSP and chief of Taplejung district police office, said loss of property due to storm is estimated to be Rs. 7.5 million and that Sidingawa Rural Municipality was the worst hit in the storm on Monday.

Roof of old ward office building of Sidingwa rural municipality-2 has been blown away. The gale also blew away room of the flour mill here, said ward chair Purna Bahadur Limbu.

Roof the tin-roofed house of Rajan Baraili at Angrakhop in ward 3 has also been blown away while roof of straw-roofed houses of Biraj Idhingo and Ratna Bahadur Idingo at Yangrakhapa in ward 5 has also been blown away.

According to Amar Bahadur Limbu, ward chair of Sidingwa rural municipality-5, a local of Limbudin Tika Rai's house has been damaged as the storm fell Simal and Bar trees on to their house.
