PM Oli receives traditional invitation for National Jyapu Day

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Nov. 28: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has been extended a traditional invitation (Gway Da Tayegu Jwaib) to participate as the chief guest in the 21st National Jyapu Day.

At the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar on Wednesday, a group of around 100 individuals, including federal MP Krishna Gopal Shrestha and Jyapu Culture Development Trust Chairman Mangal Krishna Maharjan, extended an invitation to the Prime Minister to participate in the programme, accompanied by traditional Newari music.

This year’s Jyapu Day and Yomari Punhi (Newari festival marking the end of rice harvest) will be observed on December 15. The main programme will take place at Basantapur, accompanied by a rally in Kathmandu.

The organisers have also announced that the Jyapu Talent Award will be presented during the programme.

Accepting the traditional invitation, Prime Minister Oli highlighted that Newari culture, being original, advanced, and sophisticated, serves as a component of Nepali identity and culture and should be collectively preserved and promoted.

Prime Minister Oli assured that the government would extend all possible support to increase the fixed deposit amount for the Jyapu Guthi.
