Kaji and Mitjyu in cinemas

By A Staff Reporter, Kathmandu, May 23: Two Nepali films, ‘Kaji’ and ‘Mitjyu’, along with a Bollywood film, ‘Chaand Meri Dil’, and a Hollywood film, ‘Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu’, have been released in cinemas across Nepal from Friday.

‘Mitjyu’ features popular dancer Teriya Phounja Magar, along with Dayahang Rai and Saugat Malla in lead roles.

The film marks the debut of Magar, who was the winner of the Indian Colours TV dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa Season 9. Directed by Anil Budha Magar, the drama is set in a rural backdrop and explores themes of friendship and the life of a jeep driver in rural areas. Produced by Janak Gharti Magar, the film has a runtime of 136 minutes.

Another film, ‘Kaji’, featuring Bipin Karki and Keki Adhikari in the lead roles, was also released on Friday. The film portrays the ups and downs of a married couple’s romantic relationship. It is directed by Laxman Rijal.

Likewise, ‘Chaand Mera Dil’ is a Bollywood romantic drama featuring Ananya Panday and Lakshya in lead roles. Directed by Vivek Soni, the story revolves around the love relationship between two university students.

Similarly, the Hollywood film ‘Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu’ is a new instalment in the Star Wars franchise, released after seven years.

In addition, two other Nepali films, ‘Lalibazar’ and ‘Life Dyamage’, are currently running in cinemas.

 According to the production company Shatkon Arts, ‘Lalibazar’, released on May 1, has earned over 52.5 million so far. Directed by Yam Thapa, the film features Swastima Khadka, Rabindra Singh Baniya, Bishal Devkota, and Mukunda K. Shrestha, among others.

On the other hand, ‘Life Dyamage’, released on May 15, is directed by Nimesh Shrestha. The film marks his directorial debut. The cast includes Surakshya Panta, Nimesh Shrestha, Isha Thapa, Amogh Aryal, and Sanjana Maharjan, among others.
