National Conference on Child Rights Concludes with 25-Point Kathmandu Declaration

Kathmandu, Nov 26:  The National Conference of Child Human Rights Defenders has concluded successfully.

Three Days conference, organized by six active organizations in the field of child rights, started on Saturday in Kathmandu and ended with the release of a 25-point Kathmandu Declaration. 

The event was organized by the National Human Rights Commission, the National Child Rights Council, the National Action and Coordination Group (NACG) Nepal, Consortium Nepal, Girls Not Brides (GNB), and the South Asian Initiative to End Violence Against Children (SAIVAG). 

The event was concluded by the Minister for Women, Children, and Senior Citizens, Nawal Kishore Sah Sudi. During his speech, Minister Sah emphasized that children are the leaders of tomorrow and expressed his belief in seeing them as the future leaders of a beautiful Nepal. 

He also highlighted that the conference coincided with the start of the 16-day campaign against violence against women and urged the participating children to pledge not to marry before the legal age and not to accept dowry.

The closing ceremony saw the participation of Rinchhen Chopel, Secretary General of SAIVAG, Ritu Bhattarai of NACG Nepal, and other representatives from the organizing institutions, child rights activists, and children from all seven provence.
