'Kavya Shraban' features Manu Manjil

blog

By A Staff Reporter, Kathmandu, June 9: A solo poetry recitation by poet Manu Manjil was held recently at 'R-shala' of Publication Nepalya in Kalikasthan, Kathmandu.

Nepalaya, which already hosts the musical session Paleti and book-related events at R-shala, has now added poetry to its line-up.

Manu Manjil transitioned into his poetry session by responding to a question posed by Shrawan Mukarung, a poet, lyricist, and the coordinator of the Kavya Shraban event.

In an answer to a query by Mukurung, Manu replied, "Westerners are structurally precise and polished, but their flow of emotion is not as strong."

He added that in many countries of South Asia, including Nepal, the emotion is rich, though the structure hasn't been able to become as precise.

"In countries undergoing rapid socio-political changes, poetry naturally becomes intensely emotional," he noted.

Following the discussion, Manu moved on to his poetry. He recited several poems, including Gaule Ek Balak Samjhera (Remembering a Village Boy), Uni Kavita Jeevanko Rangle Lekhchhin (She Writes Poem with the Colours of Life), Dusman (Enemy), Ghoda (Horse), Yo Sahar Kasako Ho? (Whose City is This?), Ketaketiharu (Children), Timi Mero Canvas-ma (You on My Canvas), Pahad ra Pahiro (The Mountain and the Landslide).

He also shared the creative background of some of his poems.

Performing before a huge audience, Manu Manjil delivered profound insights on poetry alongside his recitations, sharing the origins and inspirations behind his work.

Manjil has published some poetry collections, including 'Lamppostbata Khaseko Joon.'

Meanwhile, Nepalaya announced that literature lovers attending the event would receive a free annual subscription to their E-Kavita (E-Poetry) series, which has been running for the past four and a half years.  The subscription allows members to read and listen to all poems on E-Kavita for free.

Kavya Shraban event will now be organised at R-shala on the first Friday of every English calendar month.

It is informed that the second edition of the series will feature poet Swapnil Smriti.
