Vehicle transporting five oxen against standards impounded

By Our Correspondent,Tanahun, June 9: Police have taken control of a vehicle involved in the inhumane and non-compliant transportation of livestock along a section of the Prithvi Highway in Chapaghat of Vyas Municipality-5, Tanahun district.

A Tata Yodha pickup van carrying five oxen was intercepted while travelling from Tharpu to Aambukhaireni.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Dwarika Prasad Ghimire of the District Police Office, Tanahun, the vehicle was found transporting the animals without meeting the minimum standards required for livestock transport and without the necessary legal documentation.

DSP Ghimire said that following information about inhumane livestock transport on the highway, police intensified monitoring and initiated necessary investigation and action.

The police handed over the vehicle and the oxen to the office of Vyas Municipality on Monday morning for further legal action. The municipality imposed a fine of Rs. 10,000 for gross negligence in livestock transportation and released the vehicle after issuing a warning, according to the District Police Office, Tanahun.
