Mahendranagar (Dhanusha), Nov 25: Nepali Congress President and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that instead of taking loans under China's Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), grants should be taken.

Former PM Deuba, who came to unveil the statue of democratic movement leader Arvind Thakur in Lohana located in Janakpurdham Sub-metropolitan City-23, said so while talking to media persons at Janakpurdham airport today.

He said that it is not right to take a loan under the BRI, but a grant would be appropriate at present.

President Deuba said that since China is a good friend of Nepal, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli's upcoming visit to China will help to further strengthen the bilateral relationship.

On a different note, leader Deuba said that the Nepali Congress alone cannot do anything to change the leadership of the Madhesh government, so there is a need for discussion within the coalition. NC President Deuba emphasized that Congress should move forward being united. (RSS)
