Damauli, Nov 9: Minister for Communications and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung today inaugurated the 12th national convention of the association related to Tamu students.
Minister Gurung initiated the three-day convention at Damauli, Tanahun district where 1,500 participants have assembled.
Prior to the inauguration, a cultural procession in traditional attires was taken to Damauli, said Bishwaraj Tamu, coordinator of the national convention's main organizing committee.
The convention will elect a new executive committee, it was shared. The association of the students belonging to the Gurung community was established in 2052 BS to protect and promote the rights of the Tamu students.
The association also aims to foster emotional unity bolster cooperation among all student unions advocate ethnic autonomy, and collaborate for an equitable society among others, according to Bishwaraj. (RSS)
