By Sapana Thami, Kathmandu, Nov.1: There will be imprisoned for up to three years and fined up to Rs 30,000 if found transporting and using firecracker products during the Tihar festival.
The Spokesperson for Nepal Police Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dan Bahadur Karki, said that the punishment is determined in accordance with the Criminal Code) Act, 2074 (2017).
He said, "According to the Criminal Code) Act, 2074 (2017), there is a provision to punish the person who illegally transfers and uses firecrackers and firecracker products will be imprisoned for up to three years and fined up to 30,000. Since firecrackers cause environmental pollution as well as accidents, the law of Nepal punishes anyone who illegally imports, transports, stores, and distributes such substances.”
Rishiram Tiwari, Joint Secretary, Security and Coordination Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs said that checking desks have been established and carried out at the borders, and highways to curb the illegal transport of firecrackers and firecracker products.
He said, “All the district administration offices and security agencies conduct checking in all border areas. If found, firecrackers and firecracker products are confiscated and carry legal action as well.”
He said that Co-ordination is done accordingly. We have given instructions and are also closely monitoring.
He said that firecrackers and firecracker products that are being illegally transported need to be controlled strictly. (RSS)
