Sayami’s ‘Swar Samrat Narayan Gopal’ launched

By A Staff Reporter,Lalitpur, Oct. 30: A book, Swar Samrat Narayan Gopal, was launched amid a programme held in Lalitpur on Tuesday. 

Senior Nepali film director, writer, and producer Prakash Sayami is the writer of the biography of legendary singer late Narayan Gopal Gurubacharya.

 The book was jointly launched by senior musician Karma Yonjan, former Vice Chancellor of Tribhuvan University Kedar Bhakta Mathema,  CK Rasaili, filmmaker and artiste Neer Shah, the comedy duo  Madan Krishna Shrestha and Hari Bansha Acharya (Maha Jodi), actress Basundhara Bhusal and writer Sayami himself.

Speaking at the programme, Sayami shared that he wrote the book to present a concise portrayal of Narayan Gopal’s life and personality.

 Actor Saroj Khanal said that Narayan Gopal’s music has immortalised him, and he continues to live in the hearts of every Nepali. Khanal shared many memories with Narayan Gopal, adding that the singer would always remain alive through his timeless music.

Senior lyricist Nagendra Thapa expressed confidence that the book would serve as a milestone for future researchers.

Chief guest and former Vice Chancellor of Tribhuvan University Kedar Bhakta Mathema praised Sayami’s efforts, acknowledging that writing a biography is challenging, as authors often face criticism after publishing.

 He added that the book is engaging, well-written and will help pass on Narayan Gopal’s contribution to the music sector to the new generation. 

The 386-page book is priced at Rs. 500.
