Munkunda Raj Sharma brings out Dhobighat Melody

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Oct. 29: Essayist cum lyricist Mukundraj Sharma has brought out a collection of essays titled Dhobighat Melody in Nepali. 

Former Minister of State for Education Umesh Shrestha, Lalitpur Metropolitan Mayor Chiri Babu Maharjan, writers Dayaram Shrestha, Kumari Lama, SP Koirala, Bishnuvibhu Ghimire, Ashesh Malla, Shri Om Shrestha, Shakuntala Sharma, Nirmala Sharma, Binny Shrestha, Manyata Sharma and Vidya Limbu jointly unveiled the book amid a function in the capital.

At the function, the book was dedicated to the author's late father Nimanada Sharma by offering it before his portrait.

Critic Dayaram Shrestha praised the essays for embodying poetic rhythm, narrative musical notes, delicate tones, insightful philosophy, a reader-friendly symphony, and a personal soundscape of resonant beauty. 

Theatre director Ashesh Malla hailed Sharma's ability to convey emotions with a captivating and unique literary style. 

Another critic Kumari Lama highlighted the exceptional quality of the essays while Shree Om Shrestha lauded Sharma's unique and 

original style.

Publisher Direk Lal Shrestha, who is the managing editor of Kamana Publications, expressed happiness to have published the book. 

Senior artiste Harihar Sharma extended best wishes while essayist Sharma recited excerpts from his book at the function. Presiding over the event, former state minister Shrestha traced the decline of literary engagement over the past 30–35 years. "I felt proud to see Sharma’s work in such a time," 

he said.

Published by Kamana News Publications, the 202-page essay collection is priced at NPR 500. Comprising 24 essays, the collection is divided into three parts.
