Lamjung, Oct 26: Minister for Communications and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung said the poor people have to face burden due to expensive existing health services.

He clarified that the government was hell-bent on managing the health sector in a way to expand the reach of the health services to the underserved people.

Inaugurating the newly-constructed building of Gaunshahar Health Post at Besishahar municiplaity-2, Kafaldanda Chisapani in Lamjung today, Minister Gurung commented that though health care ranging from kidney transplant to liver treatment services are being made possible in Nepal they are not cheaper.

The government was working to expand the reach of the treatment services of kidney and liver to the people, he shared.

"The government is committed to provide services to the villages. Discussions are underway on how to make medical services cheaper and reduce health burden of the people", Minister Gurung informed, clarifying that protecting the lives of the citizens was the first priority.

Noting that the government has made huge investment in the education sector, he said the sector however has not been well organized. In order to address the problems in the education sector, the government would come up with an attractive plan for retaining students at schools.(RSS)
