Demonstration to warn Govt against irregularities, corruption: Chairman Prachanda

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Oct 26: Chairman of the CPN (Maoist Center), the main opposition party in parliament, Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has said that the demonstration held today in Kathmandu was for warning the government against irregularities and corruption.

"We have not held the warning assembly to topple the government, instead it is to warn the government that if it moves additionally toward irregularities and corruption, the government will collapse," said Chairman Prachanda, also former Prime Minister, addressing the province level mass assembly.

Remarking that the government performed extremely recklessly in course of relief during the rain-induced disaster, the Maoist Chief said the demonstration was to warn the government against any lackluster work in relief and rehabilitation.

He mentioned that he had no interest in toppling the government. "By toppling the government I was leading, which was working against corruption, the present ruling parties provided an opportunity for us to go to the people and improve the relations. We have realized we made mistake by cooperating with the parties that supported comprador capitalists."

Former Prime Minister Prachanda claimed that his government made such a record on good governance that no one can erase.

Addressing the province level mass gathering jointly organized here by Bagmati, Special and liaison coordination provincial committees of the CPN (Maoist Center), the Maoist chief claimed that the party will initiate 'green revolution' as the people will support it as in 2008. He reiterated that his party will compete in the upcoming elections all alone, without forming an electoral alliance with any party.

The leader of the main opposition party also questioned about why the government spared the leaders of the ruling Nepali Congress and CPN (UML) to investigate in connection to abuse of the fund of the Cooperatives as indicated by the parliamentary committee and arrested only a leader of the opposition party, such as Labi Lamichhane of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP).

He also asked the government about the investigation on cases such as Bhutanese refugee scam, Giribandhu tea estate, Bansbari land scam, Bal Mandir land and vowed to continue resist and expose the government's wrong steps from both the parliamentary and public fronts.

Chairman of CPN (Maoist Centre) Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has said that his party would continuously run campaigns to safeguard and further develop the rights of Nepali citizens.

At a mass meeting organized here by the party's Bagmati Province Committee, Chairman Dahal said his party was working to protect the people's rights.

He recalled that his government signed a power trade deal with India, worked for economic development and good governance and maintained a balanced relationship with China and India to work for the nation's interests.

On the occasion, the Maoist Centre Chairman said that his party would contest upcoming elections singlehandedly and emerge as the largest political party.

Likewise, Prachanda shared that the unity of the Maoist splinters would take place soon.

Addressing the party cadres, he argued that irregularities in the country deepened due to the existing electoral system and viewed that a directly-elected executive chief and a fully proportional electoral system were needed for the country.

Similarly, the former prime minister said that the victims of the cooperative organizations and microfinances should get justice and the culprits should be booked.

Senior vice-chairman of CPN (Maoist Centre) Narayankaji Shrestha said the campaign of economic development should be expedited in the country with the completion of the political changes.

Shrestha shared that his party has taken special initiatives to prepare the foundation for socialism with new characteristics to safeguard the interests of working-class people and farmers. 

Maoist Centre leaders Agni Prasad Sapkota, Hitman Shakya, Yashoda Subedi, Daljit Sripaili, Rameshwor Raya Yadav, Parshuram Tamang and other leaders stated that the party would launch its campaigns in a proactive manner.
