By Gun Bahadur Roka,Sulikot, Oct. 26: Nyauli Jharna (waterfall), located in Lapubesi of Dharche Rural Municipality-7 in northern Gorkha, has become a popular destination for both domestic and international tourists.

The waterfall is located along the path from Larkepass to Mount Manaslu and its popularity has surged as numerous tourists travel through the area.

Chairperson of Dharche Rural Municipality, Laxman Gurung, said that Nyauli Jharana, regarded as nature's treasure, has been flowing uninterrupted since ancient times, drawing an increasing number of visitors.

He added that the waterfall's promotion through social media has also played a key role in drawing visitors. Tourists visiting Gorkha’s district headquarters make it a point to visit Nyauli Jharana at least once.

According to Gurung, hundreds of tourists visit the waterfall, cascading down from about 500 metres through a forest. The rural municipality has recognised the tourism potential of the area and has included Nyauli Jharana in its policies and programmes.

A Detailed Project Report (DPR) has been prepared, but as the local budget is insufficient for proper management, the municipality is seeking additional funds from the federal and provincial governments.

So far, the municipality has only been able to construct a simple iron railing around the waterfall with its limited budget.

Gurung said. “The number of tourists coming to take photos, shoot videos and make TikToks at the waterfall is increasing every day,” he added.

Reports indicate that large numbers of tourists visit Nyauli Waterfall on Fridays and Saturdays.

Govinda Shrestha, a local tourist from Khoplang of Palungtar Municipality - 1, shared that visitors enjoy gathering on the suspension bridge over Nyauli River to admire the view of the waterfall from top to bottom.

Chief Administrative Officer Kajiman Sunar of Dharche Rural Municipality said that staircases and railings have been installed on both sides, allowing visitors to reach the main part of the waterfall and enjoy its beauty.

He added that the spot, known for its scenic views and the sound of the rushing water, is a popular location for tourists to take photos, especially near a spot marked with a love symbol.

Sunar further added that with the completion of the DPR, structures for adventurous activities and a glass bridge are being planned to enhance the visitor experience at Nyauli Waterfall.
