Education Ministry to implement plan for compulsory, free education

Kathmandu, Oct 24: Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Bidya Bhattarai, has said School Midday Meal National Framework based on local produce has been approved and is being implemented.     

Unveiling achievements of the ministry after she assumed the office 100 days ago, Minister Bhattarai shared that the Ministry has prepared action plan for the implementation of compulsory and free education as well as action plan of improvement of school-level education and evaluation system.     

She underlined, "Draft of University bill has been prepare and sent to cabinet as well as draft of higher education bill has been prepared and sent to Nepal Law Commission."     

Similarly, draft of Bill related to Technical Educational and Vocational Training has been sent to Finance Ministry, 924 Educational Consultancies were renewed as well as decision was taken to make surprise visit of such consultancies as per the need, documents like approval letter would be verified while renewing such consultancies, according to Minister Bhattarai.     

She mentioned, "Monitoring of six health institutions has been completed for the implementation of criteria related to radioactive materials and radiation safety. Draft for the curriculum reforms of Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training has been prepared. Action Plan has been made to make higher education programmes run by educational institutions affiliated with foreign universities systematic."(RSS)
