Female rhino found dead in Nawalpur

By Bom Lal Giri, Nawalpur, Oct.22: A female rhinoceros has been found dead in Madhyabindu Municipality-12 of Nawalpur District.

According to the Assistant Conservation Officer of the Chitwan National Park (CNP) Abinash Thapa Magar, a female rhino of approximately 3-4 years of age was found dead in the confluence in Arun River on Monday. 

The deceased rhino was injured in a fight with another rhino in the forest.

Thapa Magar, who is also an information officer of CNP, said that the preliminary investigation shows that the rhino may have died of pain from injury during a fight.

It is said that the horn and hoof of rhinoceros are safe. 

He said that the number of dead rhinos in the current season has reached seven. Out of 7, six died due to natural causes and one because of electrocution. 

According to the latest report, there are 694 rhinos in CNP, of which, 450 rhinos are in the Nawalpur region in the western sector.
