Govt. has prioritized disaster response jobs, Minister Gurung says

Kathmandu, Sept. 28: Minister for Communications and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung has said that the government has accorded top priority to the job of search, rescue and relief operations in the wake of the ongoing monsoon-induced disasters.     

Minister Gurung, also the spokesperson of the government, told the RSS that the government has advanced the disaster response jobs after the flooding, landslide and inundation happening in different parts of the country.     

"It is natural for the citizens to expect from the government in time of disaster. We have been working on disaster response with promptness since Friday," Minister Gurung added.     

He also said that the government was making its best efforts to safeguard people's lives.     

Gurung shared that an emergency meeting of the Council of Ministers chaired by Acting Prime Minister Prakashman Singh on Saturday has decided to ensure free medical services to those injured in the disasters and instructed the relevant ministries to make arrangements for the immediate operation of essential services including electricity, drinking water, and telephone.     

He also said that the Nepali Army, Nepal Police and other agencies to remain alert for the disaster response works.(RSS)
