Cultural diversity is national identity: Minister Pandey

Kathmandu, Sept 27: Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Badri Pandey said cultural diversity was the national identity of Nepal.     

In his address to an event organized on the occasion of World Tourism Day here at Nachghar in Kathmandu, he said, "Geography of our country is not big in size, but it is diverse in culture. Diverse culture is our identity."     

Minister Pandey expressed his happiness while observing cultural performances of different communities in Rastriya Nachghar Hall.     

Deep Dangi, the founding member of the forum, said "Tourism cannot be promoted unless natural heritages were promoted".     

Folk dances of different communities were performed at the programme.     

Toshi dance of Thulung Sama Rai of Solukhumbu (Koshi province), Khando dance of Jajarkot district (1Karnali province), Pamaria dance of Madhes province were performed by the artists.     

Similarly, Paseru dance from Rolpa (Lumbini province), Chalia dance from Darchula (Sudurpaschim), Purkhyauli dance of Pun community (Gandaki province), Mhendomaya dance of Tamang community (Bagmati province), Jharjhari dance including Bharaikhel from Sudurpschim province, Holi dance and Singaru dance were performed at the programme.(RSS)
