Kaligandaki corridor roadway comes into operation after two months

Galkot (Baglung), Sept 27: The Baglung section under the Kaligandaki corridor highway remaining as a project of national pride has come into operation after two months of disruption.

The roadway track was damaged by a landslide on July 24 at Dablyang of Baglung municipality-10. Since then it had remained completely disrupted.

The damaged section was restored to let the traffic resume from today, said Jaimini municipality deputy-mayor Harihar Sharma. Though the Baglung municipality, the neighbouring local level of Jaimini, and the Kaligandai Corridor Project made efforts to restore the track, it had not been possible.

An alternative to the corridor, the Dablyang-Kalakhola section was being used for the movement of light vehicles.

It took time to resume the track as it was swept away by the flood, Sharma said.  Once the rainfall stops, preparations are on to operate services by large vehicles from the Baglung Bazar to Jaimini. (RSS)
