By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Sept 19: Immersion Mandarin Academy (IMA), a Chinese language institute celebrated the Mid-Autumn Festival across six different schools and colleges in Kathmandu.
According to the IMA, the event saw enthusiastic participation from students ranging from Montessori levels to first-year Bachelor's students, with a central highlight being their active involvement in the traditional making of mooncakes.
The Mid-Autumn Festival, one of China's largest cultural celebrations, symbolizes family reunion and togetherness. By involving students of all ages in this cultural experience, Immersion Mandarin Academy aimed to deepen their understanding of Chinese traditions and foster a connection to the language through hands-on activities.
Teachers from the academy emphasized their commitment to offering immersive cultural experiences as a core component of language learning.
“Our goal is not just to teach the Mandarin language but to provide students with an immersive cultural experience, allowing them to feel a deeper connection with the language,” said the Managing Director of Immersion Mandarin Academy, Pramila Tamang.
The festival celebration took place at various educational institutions including Kathmandu Don Bosco College, Kathmandu Shikshyala School, Jeevan Jyoti English Boarding School, Alok Vidyashram, The Rising Star Boarding School and Grace Montessori Through this initiative, the academy successfully engaged a diverse group of students, making the Mid-Autumn Festival a memorable cultural learning experience for all involved.
Altogether about 1200 students from different schools participated in the program. This is the second year immersion Mandarin has hosted and organized such a program.
