Bhuthan on Amazon

Kathmandu, Jan. 22: Film ‘Bhuthan- The World’s Happiest Man’, has been made available on the world-renowned OTT platform Amazon. 

According to the film’s producer Abeeral Thapa, since January 9, Amazon has officially released the film under its English title ‘The World’s Happiest Man’ for the time being in the North American region.

 Another producer, Rajendra Thakurathee, said that work was underway to gradually make the film available for viewing worldwide through other platforms as well.

Released in Nepal on April 25 last year, the film tells the story of Bhutanese refugees who migrated from Bhutan to the United States. The film portrays an elderly man’s attempt, in the latter part of his life, to return to Bhutan from America, and depicts the suffocation of being compelled to live on foreign soil after one’s roots are firmly planted in the homeland.

 Senior actor Haribansha Acharya played the lead role in the film. Other cast members include Dayahang Rai, Anuradha Majumdar, Pooja Chand, Richa Ghimire, Joyess Pandey, Aditi Pyakurel, Tom Crane, and Bimal Subedi. 

Renowned Hollywood actor Bruce Dern has also appeared in a special role. This is the first Nepali film made under Hollywood’s SAG-AFTRA guidelines, with some Hollywood technicians working on the project.The film is directed by Binod Paudel.
