Kathmandu, Sept 18: Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Bidya Bhattarai, has laid emphasis on the need of reforming the education system of the country.
Speaking at a programme organized here Wednesday on the occasion of National Education Day, Minister Bhattarai shared that results of students should be linked with teacher's performance assessment. "Efforts are underway to pass the Education Act soon", she mentioned, "An implementation framework has been prepared to implement compulsory and free education act, 2075."
Stating that a special campaign should be launched for promoting access to education, Minister Bhattarai pointed out the need of preparing monitoring indicators and organising community mobilization and guardians support to achieve it.
The Education Minister mentioned that child development centres should be strengthened to increase student's access to school and for making a literate Nepal.
The local levels should make a plan to resolve problems of teachers working at child development centre. She also requested all local levels to provide monthly remuneration to teachers
Minister Bhattarai added that curriculum reforms have been started, sharing that a plan on evaluating learning by doings rather than reading boosts the student outcomes.
Similarly, Education Secretary Dr Deepak Kafle said the ministry was committed to improving quality of education in the country.
On the occasion, students of different schools presented cultural performances. The country observed this year's National Education Day under the slogan, "Knowledge, Science, Skill, Entrepreneurship and Originality: Partnership and Systematic Competence.
The country started observing Asoj 2 in the Lunar Calendar as the National Education Day commemorating the endorsement of Compulsory and Free Education Act, 2075.(RSS)
