'Allocation of capital spending will be increased for infrastructure development'

Kathmandu, Sept 12: Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel has said government was for increasing allocation of budget for capital spending so that infrastructure development could be intensified.     

DPM Paudel said it during the Nepal Infrastructure Summit organized jointly by the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Confederation of Nepalese Industries, and Investment Board.     

"Government is for breaking legal and policy barriers and prioritizing foreign aid in physical infrastructure development," he said, "These efforts are aimed at building 'Prosperous Nepal: Happy Nepalis'.     

Sustainable, quality and resilient physical infrastructures is the need of hour, according to him. The public finance would be mobilized by maintaining economic and fiscal discipline and financial accountability, he added.     

Similarly, financial and monetary policies would be made relevant and timely.     

The Finance Minister argued that as a landlocked country and difficult geography, infrastructure building is a challenging job for Nepal.(RSS)
