Identity card to people with disability at doorstep

Gorkha, Sept 11: The Shahid Lakhan Rural Municipality has distributed and renewed disability identity cards to the people living with disability reaching their doorsteps.    

Vice-chairperson of the rural municipality Indira Tiwari said that the rural municipality has mobilized doctors, staff and people's representatives to distribute disability identity cards for the convenience of the disabled people.    

"The rural municipality aims to ensure that no people with disability are deprived of the services provided by the State", she said.    

A team comprising Medical Officer of Gorkha Hospital, Santosh Sitaula and Chief of the rural municipality's health section, Birendra Shrestha reached the houses of the disabled people to distribute identity cards.     

"A medical report is mandatory to provide disability ID card and doctors have also been mobilized for the same", the deputy mayor shared.    

According to her, 233 people with disability have been provided services in the municipality. The rural municipality sources said new disability identity cards have been distributed to nine more people and 224 people have been renewed. RSS
