Gandaki, Aug 28: Chief Minister of Gandaki Province, Surendra Raj Pandey has asserted that the citizens also have a significant role to play in maintaining peace and security in society, and thereby giving a feel of the rule of law.

Chief Minister Pandey said so while inaugurating the Area Police Office Muktinath in Mustang today.

On the occasion, he insisted that the law and order and peace can be established in society through collaboration and cooperation among the government, the civil society and the citizens.

He expressed the belief that it would be easier for the police to carry out their duty of ensuring security of tourists and the locals in Muktinath with the construction of the building.

Stating that the police adjustment could not be accomplished as the legislation required in accordance with the constitution could not be made, Chief Minister Pandey said the provincial government has not been able to provide the required support to the police as expected.

He added that the provincial government has been continuously providing assistance to the police in terms of building physical infrastructures, giving them rescue equipment, and providing capacity enhancement training and others in spite of the limited resources at its disposal.

The building is constructed at an investment of Rs 36 million by the Gandaki Province Government. (RSS)
